Seasonal timing Starting in May is actually a strong advantage — you launch right into peak outdoor & renovation season (May–Aug), ride the summer project surge, capture back-to-school home prep in August, then hit the lucrative Q4 ad premium (Oct–Nov) when Raptive RPMs spike 40–60% above baseline.
Big wins vs. January start Outdoor/deck/landscaping content published in May ranks & drives traffic by June–July peak. A January start misses this window entirely. Watch out You’ll need a “winter prep” content push in October instead of spring prep — plan it now.

How this differs from a January start
Advantages of starting in May
  • Outdoor content ranks during peak season. Deck, patio, and landscaping posts published in May are indexed and ranking by June–July, when search volume is 3–4× higher than winter.
  • Q4 ad premium benefit. By October you’ll have Raptive fully active right when Q4 advertiser budgets pour in — RPMs jump 40–60% from September to November.
  • Summer = high buyer intent. Homeowners actively spend on projects May–August. Contractor and tool advertisers bid aggressively in this window, lifting your RPMs.
  • Fall prep is massive in Year 1. Publishing winterization and fall checklist content in September gives you a powerful seasonal traffic surge just before Raptive qualification.
What shifts compared to January
  • No “winter repair” foundation month. A January plan starts with cold-weather fixes (pipes, insulation, heating). You skip this — instead your foundation month is outdoor/spring, which has higher traffic.
  • Bathroom & kitchen pushed to Month 3. In January these are Months 1–2. Starting in May, you build outdoor authority first, then pivot indoors in July when summer heat pushes people inside.
  • Solar content hits in August, not April. Still excellent timing — summer electricity bills create peak solar research intent in July–August.
  • Year 2 January plan needed. You’ll want a separate winter/spring content batch ready for Jan–Apr 2027 to fill the seasonal gap you’re skipping now.

October revenue is ~$500 higher than the January-start equivalent because Q4 ad premiums compound on top of Raptive’s base RPM. A January plan would hit Raptive in Month 5 (May) — lower RPM season.
